CIHT are pleased to announce that their latest guidance document, Manual for Streets 2 – Wider Application of the Principles, will be launched through a series of conferences.
All conference delegates will receive a FREE copy of the new guidelines.
The new guidelines take the principles set out in Manual for Streets and demonstrate through guidance and case studies how they can be extended beyond residential streets to encompass both urban and rural situations. The document has been designed to assist local highway and planning authorities as well as their consultants and contractors, to bridge the gap between Manual for Streets and the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges to deliver more contextually sensitive designs for new or existing highways.
The conference will be held in four locations and the programme will give an insight into the guidelines and will look at the research undertaken for the project. Some case studies will be presented to demonstrate how the document principles can be implemented and there will be workshops on particular aspects such as dealing with an ageing population, street de-cluttering and shared space.
