The following grants have been made in 2011 to date

Arkwright Foundation Trust £4,000  to fund two more 2 year engineering scholarships for 16-18 year olds starting September 2011.

RedR £5,000 general donation to funds to support work on Pakistan Flood relief projects.

Engineers Against Poverty £1,500 to support transport related research

University of Southampton £100 to support the Tom Williams Prize

TfL & GL Branch £200 contribution to sponsor a trophy and support a schools competition on transport planning.

Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust  - £5,000 part funding to support a nationwide schools campaign to promote wearing of helmets, lights and reflective vests.

Edinburgh Napier University - £5,000 part funding to develop an instrumented bicycle (IntelliBike) to monitor cycleway conditions.

Transport Skills Employers Forum - £5,000 part funding to raise awareness of careers in highways and transportation among young people.

Grants 2010

The following grants have been made in 2010

Arkwright Foundation Trust £3,600 to fund two more 2 year engineering scholarships for 16-18 year olds starting September 2010.

Carlton Reid £500 part funding towards research costs of a book on the history of hard road surfaces.

TfL £100 part funding with other CIHT branches to support a schools competition on transport planning.

Bicycle Helmet Initiative Trust - £5,000 part funding  to produce a schools pack for 9-11 year olds on cycle helmet use and head injury awareness

 

Grants 2009

The following grants have been made in 2009

Zahara Batool £2,840 to fund student research as part of PhD research at Leeds University on attitudinal and behavioral studies of driver behaviour in Pakistan.

Engineers against Poverty £5,000 to fund work with IHT’s Transport Policy Board to produce a technical briefing document on the the design and delivery of highway and transportation projects to contribute to sustainable development and poverty reduction. Mission Marts £3,500 to fund the shipment of renovated bicycles to Ghana to improve the mobility of isolated communities
 
Arkwright Foundation Trust £3,600 to fund two 2 year engineering scholarships for 16-18 year olds starting September 2009.

Rwanda Aid  £5,000 to fund improvements the condition of the existing road to Mwagera, thereby providing reliable access for the construction of 6 new school classrooms, whilst developing road building skills in the local community. The current road to the rural community is along an unmade track, over 5km long, which becomes impassable for motorised transport under heavy rain conditions. In order to provide a reliable access for vehicles, road improvement works are essential.
