CIHT Foundation

img_foundationThe Foundation has been created by CIHT to receive charitable donations
from collections and other appeals to distribute to activities and projects that we can support as part of our charitable aims. The focus will be on educational or innovative proposals that advance the art and science of highways and transportation. The funds raised go into a restricted CIHT account so that they can only be used strictly for this purpose.

Applications for funds are considered on their merits by the Chief Executive and the Senior Vice President.

A Foundation promotional leaflet   is available for circulation to potential applicants including for example local schools, colleges and relevant local organisations. The pack is available on request for anyone wishing to apply or wishing to pass onto potential applicants.

Applying for a grant

CIHT have agreed the criteria and guiding principles for applicants to address in submitting bids for funds. The aim is to keep the paperwork and procedures involved simple, fair and transparent to encourage a wide range of ideas for projects and schemes.

Recent fund raising

The Foundation depends for its funds on contributions from collections at CIHT events.  This year's Annual Lunch (2011) raised £12,500 which with gift aid will grow to around £15,000. 
 
Branches have also raised funds at their dinners.  Most recent of these is Thames and Chiltern and Southern's joint dinner dance whiich raised £635.
The West Midland Branch was the first branch to collect for the Foundation at its dinner and raised a healthy £400.  Other collections have been made by Yorkshire and Humberside and Southern Branches.
