Council 2010

Council advises on the strategic and professional direction of the Institution.
They also have the power to elect and remove the trustees (the Executive Board). 

The Council Members' Handbook contains a copy of the Institution's key documents such as the Corporate Plan and the Annual Report and Accounts. All Council Members need to gain a sound knowledge of these documents and of the workings of the Institution.

 

Council Members find serving on Council a rewarding and enjoyable experience, and a great opportunity to network with fellow professionals.

Council Members serve for three consecutive years, after which they must be re-elected in order to continue to serve.  If they are re-elected they can then serve for a further three years before they must stand down for at least a year.  
 
Council has a maximum of 48 members. This comprises of:
 
  • President
  • Three Vice Presidents (Articles allow Four)
  • Three Immediate Past Presidents
  • Honorary Treasurer
  • Twelve Ordinary Members
  • Nineteen Branch Members
  • Up to eight Nominated Members
