img_ceng The Education Board undertakes
a varied role in overseeing
all business that relates to professional qualifications within the Transportation Industry for the benefit of our Members. 

 

Primary objectives:  

  • monitor professional reviews and audit the professional review process on behalf of the Engineering Council
  • confirm the outcome of professional review assessments
  • make decisions on professional review candidate appeals and monitor and approve the appeals procedure
  • appoint reviewers and assessors and ensure that they receive adequate training
  • develop and oversee a scheme for mentoring candidates for CEng and IEng and other qualifications as they are developed
  • monitor the activities of the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM), receive recommendations from the JBM, and approve the accreditation status
    of educational programmes moderated by the JBM
  • take the lead in the relationship with Engineering Council, with particular reference
    to the maintenance and extension of licenses, routes to registration, and representation on Engineering Council boards and committees
  • make recommendations to the Executive Board for new qualifications
    and implement them as agreed
  • develop and implement policy on vocational education
  • ensure that all qualifications are adequately marketed and monitor candidate and employer views on the Institution’s qualifications
  • monitor education policy at school, undergraduate and post graduate level and respond to consultations as appropriate
  • develop a strategy to promote careers in highways and transportation amongst school and university students and those who influence career decisions
  • develop and manage the Transport Planning Professional qualification
