Learned Society & Technical Strategy Board

The key aims of the Board are:

  1. To act as a ‘think tank’ identifying current/emerging issues and best practice.
  2. To ensure CIHT members’ wide spectrum of interests are covered by the Board’s activities
  3. To promote and support innovation, progress and excellence
  4. To stimulate research and studies, and facilitate the dissemination of information and results, to the membership, profession and beyond
  5. To encourage members and the profession to get involved in the technical work of the Institution.

The Board will produce an annual business plan, linked back to the corporate plan, outlining its objectives for the year and defining the workload and expected outputs from its Panels.

Current  panels are;

  • Urban Design panel
  • Sustainable Transport panel
  • Health & Safety panel
  • Road Safety panel
  • Procurement & Delivery panel
  • Network Management panel
  • Asset Management and Sustainable Construction Panel
Standing panels will be reviewed annually as part of the business planning process and new panels will be formed as required to deal with current issues, where possible on a “task and finish” basis.

The Board has a responsibility to facilitate, coordinate and endorse the output of the standing panels that report to it.

Panels will be expected to report on key initiatives to the Board through the panel chairs.
