Project Website Lead


CIHT are three months into a 12 month project to replace their current back-office CRM system and public facing website.  The supplier providing both the new CRM and new website is ProTech – utilising their Pro9 Membership/CRM product and ProWeb (based on the Umbraco CMS).  The overall new website design is being undertaken by Straightedge.
The project has need for a full-time person to take on the Web Lead role, starting as soon as possible and continuing through to the planned completion date in July 2018.   The Web Lead will work closely with the Project Manager and the Project Business Lead, on behalf of the Director of Communications, ensuring that the new website meets the needs of the organisation and its members.
Role Purpose
  • Support the Director of Communications to ensure that the overall web solution meets CIHT’s needs
  • To provide website and content management system skills and expertise in the project
  • To represent CIHT’s interests from a web perspective with the web and systems suppliers, enabling CIHT to act as an ‘intelligent client’.
Main areas of Responsibility
  • Be the main point of contact for the new website between the ProTech web development team and the CIHT, and support the Project Manager in ensuring that website work is progressing as planned.
  • Support any outstanding user journey design and development work, and associated website design or development activity, in liaison with ProTech and the CIHT Business Lead.
  • Provide Umbraco and content management expertise for the project, developing the necessary templates and forms.
  • Plan and implement the set-up of the new website, liaising with ProTech and CIHT.
  • Lead the implementation of content for the new site, working with CIHT and ProTech on content migration.
  • Lead, plan and coordinate the testing of the new website – ensuring that everything is adequately tested and that all issues are identified and resolved.
  • Work with ProTech and the project team to carry out integrated testing across the solution.
  • Lead the website activity related to the cut-over from the current systems to the new website, planning the approach in liaison with the Project Manager, dealing with suppliers, issue resolution, approvals and sign-offs, and monitoring the immediate post-live performance.
  • Support the Project Manager by reporting progress on the web work (CIHT and suppliers), documenting any change requests and raising issues and risks as they emerge.
  • Review and validate any user and analytics work that is required to inform the project. 
Skills and Experience
  • Experience of working in a web team, supporting and managing a website.
  • Experience of working on a new website project.
  • Experience of website testing (system and end-user testing).
  • Experience and expertise in Umbraco CMS.
