    Matthew has been a Director of TTRSA since 2009, specialising in the fields of Transport Planning and Road Safety.

    Matthew has been a Director of TTRSA since 2009, specialising in the fields of Transport Planning and Road Safety, and being registered with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) as a Road Safety Audit Team Leader. He is a graduate of both the University of Salford and University of Westminster, and has worked extensively in Ireland and the UK, previously holding senior roles in Mouchel Parkman (MP), Transportation Planning International (TPi) and Colin Buchanan and Partners.  He is currently the Chair of CIHT Republic of Ireland; a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport; a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society; a Member of the CIHT; and, a Member of the National Transport Committee of the Local Government Technical Advisers Group.

    Andy is a Civil Engineer with over 30 years' experience in infrastructure project delivery.  He specialises in Client Management, Strategy, Business Improvement and Team Building to ensure optimum solutions are delivered for clients.  Has worked in the UK, Ireland, UAE, Australia and is currently Managing Director for Rennicks in Ireland responsible for the delivery of smart solutions for clients working in the ITS, signage and information transfer markets.  Has previously worked for Amey in the UK where he managed over 400 staff with an annual turnover in excess of £30m. Prior to this he was Director for Mouchel in Ireland which involved developing, winning, and delivering large scale infrastructure projects including the A5 Western Transport scheme (£650-£850m) for which he was Project Director.

  • Saurabh Gupta

    Saurabh Gupta

    Saurabh is a Chartered Civil Engineer and is a postgraduate from IIT Bombay with specialisation in Transportation Systems Engineering. He is currently the Honorary Treasurer of CIHT Republic of Ireland, member of Institute of Urban Transport India and is also on the committee of Roads & Transportation Society, Engineers Ireland.

    He is presently working with Arup as a Senior Engineer and worked on variety of projects in Ireland and UK from master planning, traffic impact assessment, mobility management plans, traffic engineering design and strategic and local area demand modelling. He has also undertaken numerous economic appraisals of National/ Regional Road schemes assessed in accordance with TII Project Management Guidelines. His specific expertise is in dynamic assignment modelling of urban congested networks using VISSIM.

    Prior joining Arup in 2007 he worked with Halcrow in India and Malaysia where he worked extensively with private sector clients from financial institutions and developers on National Highway BOT pre-bid advisory services and tolling strategies.

    Matthew is a Chartered Engineer who has been working in the areas of transport planning and traffic engineering area since graduating from Trinity College in 2002.

    Matthew is a Chartered Engineer who has been working in the areas of transport planning and traffic engineering area since graduating from Trinity College in 2002. He served as Chairperson of CIHT Republic of Ireland from 2014 to 2016 and is also a member of Engineers Ireland.  He currently works with Atkins’s local roads and traffic team on the design and delivery of cycle schemes, urban road and street schemes, local and regional transport plans and strategies.

  • Thomas Connell

    Thomas is a Senior Engineer and has been working with the Arup since 2006.

    Thomas is a Senior Engineer and has been working with the Arup since 2006. Prior to Arup he spent 10 years working with teh National Roads Authority in the Tramore House Regional Design Office in Waterford. He has been involved in a number of large infrastructure projects in both Ireland and Canada, gaining a wide range of experience in different aspects of road design.  He has experience working on Design & Build, DBFO, PPP and Traditional Contracts both on behalf of the Client and as Contractor’s Designer. Thomas is a road safety audit team leader having completed a Certificate of Competence in Road Safety Audit in University College Dublin.  This qualification allows him to take on the role of Road Safety Audit Team Leader and Road Safety Inspector on the Trans European Network - Transport (TEN–T).

  • Quentin O' Connor

    Quentin O' Connor

    Quentin works for Jacobs as a Transport Planner and is involved in a number of challenging and exciting projects including the coding, calibration and validation of the Greater Dublin Area Model,

    Quentin studied Town Planning at University College Cork and was very interested in the transport related modules in particular the relationship between land-use planning and transport. He continued his studies with a focus on transport in Edinburgh Napier University studying the MSc in Transport Planning and Engineering.

    Quentin works for Jacobs as a Transport Planner and is involved in a number of challenging and exciting projects including the coding, calibration and validation of the Greater Dublin Area Model, Transport Strategy for the Greater Dublin Area 2015 – 2035, N40 Demand Management Study and a number of Corridor Studies within the Greater Dublin Area.

    He is in the process of completing his Professional Development Scheme (PDS) under the Transport Planning Society. An important benefit of participating in the PDS is that he has gained a range (and depth) of experience that the CIHT require to obtain the Transport Planning Professional (TPP) qualification. He became a student member of the CIHT whilst completing his studies and found the institution very helpful with free access to events, publications and journals.

    Following graduation, Quentin's CIHT membership is proving to be very valuable. He became an active member in the Central and Southern Scotland branch attending numerous events and has met many interesting and important industry people in the UK and Ireland.

    Dinesh Bhardwaj

    Senior Transport Planner

    Dinesh is a Chartered Senior Transport Planner working with Jacobs Engineering. He enjoys vast and varied experience in the domain of Transport Planning and Traffic Engineering with his career spanning over a decade. He is qualified PRINCE2 Project Manager and has attained first-hand experience on numerous transport modelling frameworks and techno-economic feasibility studies. Specific areas of experience include extensive Urban and Highway Modelling & data analysis, travel demand forecasting and bespoke Public Transport model development.

    He possesses experience from diverse geographies ranging from UK, Europe, MENA and South Asia. He has been instrumental in success of many high prestige projects all over the world. He is Data Management Lead with National Transport Authority at the moment and also working with Essex County Council on their ambitious Highways development portfolio.

    Dinesh has been awarded numerous scholarships (GATE, DFID, Lotus trust) and enjoy an excellent academic record with distinction throughout his career. He was awarded the prestigious Peter Hills Prize by the University of Newcastle for overall best performance in the academic year 2006-2007.

    He has recently joined the CIHT committee and assumed the role of Recruitment Officer in RoI with renewed push towards increasing membership.

    Simon has worked in Atkins’ Highways Department for the past 4 years, and is immersed in all aspects of the administration of Highway Maintenance Contracts through Atkins’ Motorway Contracts

    Simon has worked in Atkins’ Highways Department for the past 4 years, and is immersed in all aspects of the administration of Highway Maintenance Contracts through Atkins’ Motorway Contracts Audit and Administration Services (MCAAS) Commission. Simon also acts as a Design Engineer on numerous projects and has carried out a range of Audits of Maintenance Providers, including the PPP Companies on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland.
     
    Presentation Title - Irish Motorcycling Policies
     
    Presentation Synopsis - Motorcyclists are over-represented in collision statistics in Ireland: they represent less than 1.5% of licensed vehicles but make up 10% of road deaths. With the aim of improving both motorcyclist safety and the number of motorcyclists in Dublin, this presentation sets out the benefits that increased motorcycle usage can bring to a congested city such as Dublin, highlights some of the poor safety statistics surrounding motorcycles in Ireland and identifies some of the shortcomings in current Irish policies and Design Standards.

  • John Fleming

    John Fleming is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the CIHT.

    John Fleming is a Chartered Engineer and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from University College, Cork in 1981 and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Limerick in 1999.
     
    From 1982 – 1992 he was registered as a Professional Engineer in Oklahoma & Florida, USA working on mainly transportation projects in road, rail, inland waterways, and airport expansions. 
     
    He returned to Ireland in 1992 to work with Limerick County Council and in 1995 joined the newly established National Roads Authority. He Was manager of the National Roads Capital Investment Programme and produced the National Roads Project Management Guidelines 2000.
    He joined Jacobs in 2005 and is Executive Director of Operations, Infrastructure, in Ireland. 
     
    He Was a founding member of the Republic of Ireland Branch of CIHT in 2006 and was Branch Chairman in 2006/2007. He is the current representative on Branch Council and is a Fellow of the CIHT.
