Branch History
The Branch membership includes the entire Greater London area.
At present, any member can choose which Branch to register with, and can choose the most suitable address for mailings. Hence the Greater London Branch has many members resident outside London who find it convenient to attend meetings in the afternoon and early evening in London. Members of other branches and guests are welcome to attend our meetings. In 2007 the Branch decided to contact its members solely by email. A programme of events is published twice a year and sent to branch members as well as being put on the Branch web page. A Newsletter is also sent to members with updated details and extra information. If any member of a neighbouring branch wants to additionally receive our programme, please send your request by e-mail to GreaterLondon@ciht.org.uk . This is likely to interest members working in London and living outside it.
As many meetings as possible are held on Wednesdays.
Presentations are hosted in Central London to avoid some members having to travel across London to meetings. All locations are close to public transport links. Please check the events calendar for the location and start time of each meeting. Whilst most events are free it is helpful if you reserve a place. This allows us to book a room of a suitable size, refreshments, etc. Some venues have limited accommodation in which case it is essential to book a place or risk being turned away.
We are always on the lookout for new places to hold events and seminars. If your company is based in London and is interested in hosting an event please contact us by emailing greaterlondon@ciht.org.uk
Seminars generally run from 2.00pm until 5.00pm, at Imperial College, room 201 (first floor) of the Civil Engineering building. This is on the north side of Imperial College Road, which can be reached from the northern most exit of the pedestrian tunnel from South Kensington Station. Seminars sometimes require a fee (check the individual event). If there is a fee (currently £60) it is necessary to send it to the secretary with a SAE for confirmation to be returned. Company applications may be invoiced.
Visits are timed to suit the event and charged at cost; they also need pre-booking.
