Vinny is a Principal Transport Planner at Jacobs with significant experience in strategy development, transport modelling, Major Scheme Appraisal and road safety.
He joined the transport profession in 2003 and the North East Branch Committee in 2005. In 2008 he took on the role of Recruitment Officer and organised events for young professionals and students to give an insight into the transport profession and the different practices within.
Vinny was appointed Chairman of the North East Branch for the 2011/12 session and, amongst other highlights, had the privilege of representing the CIHT at the centenary celebrations of the famous Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge. He has also chaired the National Branches Conference and Papers evening and Infrastructure Funding conferences in the north-east. Most importantly, he enjoys being part of a hard working committee delivering seminars, conferences and social events for transport professionals in the region.

Job title: Local Sustainable Transport Fund Manager, Tyne & Wear Local Transport Plan at Newcastle City Council
Qualification: BA (Hons) MCIHT
Sally is Programme Manager for the Tyne & Wear Local Sustainable Transport Fund with responsibility for managing the delivery of school travel based projects across the five local authorities. Prior to this, she was Newcastle City Council’s Sustainable Travel Officer and delivered city wide behaviour change initiatives through managing workplace travel plans. She also established the Newcastle car club operation and played a leading role in the region’s electric vehicle infrastructure programme, Plugged in Places.
Sally is a Director of ACT Travelwise, the UK’s network for organisations working to promote sustainable travel and, since 2011, a Board Member of Carplus - the national charity promoting changes in attitude towards car usage.
Sally has been a member of the CIHT North East branch committee since 2011 and is currently Vice Chairman. She is on the national CIHT Sustainable Transport Panel which aims to promote sustainable travel and accessibility through good planning, education and demand management techniques.

John has spent his career working for engineering consultancies and contractors on various schemes, mainly in the north east but also elsewhere throughout the UK. Of late, he has had a particular interest in Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety issues.
John has been involved with the North Eastern Branch of the CIHT for some
40 years having spent 75% of this time as Branch Secretary. He served as Branch Chairman in 1980-81 and previously as Council Member and is currently Chairman of the CIHT Self Assessment Panel and a member of the H&S Panel and a Liaison Officer for the Engineering Council.
John is keen to promote the younger members of the Institution through the Professional Review process and is looking forward to the honour of being Branch Chairman once again for the Branch’s Diamond Jubilee year in 2012.

Malcolm is a retired engineer with thirty five years experience in highway engineering and transportation services in local government. Over twenty years of his career has been in highway maintenance and network management.
Malcolm graduated from Bradford University in 1969 with an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering and from Leeds University with a Masters Degree in Transportation Engineering in 1970. He worked for a number of local authorities in the Midlands before joining North Yorkshire in 1976 and Northumberland in 1987. Following early retirement from Northumberland in 2005 he spent a period with White Young Green.
He has been a member of the North Eastern Branch Committee since 1999, serving as Chairman in the 2004 - 2005 Session and is currently Branch Treasurer.

Anthony is a Transport Planner at Jacobs, based in Newcastle. He has experience in transport modelling, major scheme appraisal, assessment and policy development.
Entering the profession in 1995, Anthony worked at Hampshire County Council for the pioneering ROMANSE Project – trialling one of the UK’s first integrated urban Intelligent Transport Systems network, in Southampton. He joined British Airways in 1998 on the graduate IT scheme in Newcastle and worked as a software analyst and developer for nine years, both at BA and the NHS. Keen to return to transport planning, Anthony has been with Jacobs since 2007.
Anthony joined the CIHT branch committee in 2011 and currently serves as the branch's Web Officer. He is currently working towards gaining the TPP qualification, through the CIHT.

Job title: Senior Lecturer, University of Newcastle upon Tyne
Qualification: BEng MSc CEng MICE FCIHT
Roger graduated in Civil Engineering from University of Liverpool before working as a highway engineer for two local authorities. After becoming a chartered engineer, he joined the international consultancy Rendel Palmer and Tritton, and spent eleven years working on a range of major highway projects.
In 1999 he joined Newcastle University as a lecturer within the Transport Operations Research Group. He is now a Senior Lecturer in Highway Engineering, and Degree Programme Director for the MSc in Transport. His research interests focus on safety and sustainability in highway engineering.

Tim has over 34 years experience and currently works in the field of pre-planning highways and transportation for developments. He was previously involved in the design and project management of Trunk Road and local highway schemes.
Since graduating in Civil Engineering at Loughborough University in 1977, Tim has worked for Tyne & Wear County Council, Gateshead Council, W A Fairhurst & Partners, WSP and Tate Consulting Engineers.
Tim has been active within the CIHT since 1997 when he joined the North Eastern Branch Committee, where he was Recruitment Officer, 1998 - 2002 and Branch Chairman, 2003 - 2004. He has been a Member of Council, since 2008 serving on the Membership Board, Member Services Board and Appian Trading Board. He was a Member of the Institution’s Executive Board, 2005-2007.

Job title: Head of Business and Consultancy Services, Living Streets
Qualification: MSc MCIHT TPS
Richard is a sustainable transport specialist helping councils and businesses promote walking and improve streets and public spaces.
Upon graduating with an MSc in Transport Engineering and Operations from Newcastle University, Richard worked initially for Sustrans, then Northumberland County Council. He gained a further MSc in Urban Policy and Regeneration from Northumbria University in 2006 before taking up a national role in charge of the Living Streets consultancy.
Richard first joined the Branch Committee in 2007 before becoming Chairman for the 2010/2011 session. He organises the popular annual quiz and cycle rides during National Bike Week.
