North Western Branch Events Programme 2011-12

The North Western Branch has developed a varied programme of events and activities for our 2011-12 Programme. In order to promote and showcase the diversity of projects that are taking place in the North West we have arranged events covering airport runway infrastructure, major bridge structures, public transport real time information systems, major maintenance projects, ferry facilities, railway engineering, highway maintenance and advancements in traffic signal technology.

2012 Branch Awards Dinner

The 2012 North Western Branch Awards Dinner was held on Friday 20 April at the Park Royal Hotel, Warrington.

Projects were judged in four categories - Transportation Project of the Year, Environmental/Sustainability Project of the Year, Safety Project of the Year and Best Practice Project of the Year.

Awards were given as follows:

 

Transportation Project of the Year

Highly Commended - Hall Lane Strategic Gateway (Birse Civils Limited, Liverpool City Council, 2020 Liverpool)

Commended - Manchester Airport Runway 1 Refurbishment Project (Manchester Airport, Costain)

 

Environmental/Sustainability Project of the Year

12 Quays Ro-Ro Pavement Reconstruction (Dowhigh Limited)

Highly Commended - Chapel Lane Car Park, Wigan (Tarmac)

Commended - A66 Bassenthwaite Lake Drainage Improvements  (EnterpriseMouchel)

 

Safety Project of the Year

Winner   

Improving the Road Safety of Children and Young People (Lancashire County Council)

Highly Commended - The RideSafe BackSafe Initiative (RideSafe BackSafe)

Commended - A626 Dan Bank Slope Stabilisation (URS, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council, Bethell)

Commended - Mersey Ferries Access Pontoon (Merseytravel)

 

Best Practice Project of the Year

Winner    

Delivering Highway Maintenance Efficiency Savings  (Capita Symonds, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council)
