Technical Events
The Branch is very active. Four technical meetings are held between November and March each year in Belfast including joint meetings with the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Logistics and Transportation. In addition a lunchtime meeting is held in the West or North of the Province. This usually takes the form of a lecture followed by a lunch. Technical seminars are also held biennially with the co-operation of the local universities and other professional institutions.

Branch news and recent events
On Friday 2 October 2009, the IHT-NI Branch 2009/2010 Programme was kicked off by a site visit to the 'A1 Beech Hill to Cloghogue Dualling' Project around Newry. This joint NI/ROI site visit brought together a group of 20 Engineers who were hosted by Tony McAllister, Project Manager of Amey Lagan Roads. The project, due for completion in Winter 2010, will complete the last section of dual carriageway construction between Belfast and Dublin, and so it was fitting to hold this year's joint site visit at such a poignant location.

NI ROI visit Oct 09 Philip Robinson, Chairman of the NI Branch, thanked Tony McAllister for being the consummate host, Lagan Ferrovial staff for their comprehensive presentations and David Porter (NI Branch) for organising the event.

Social Events

The social calendar is full too – the Branch has a Social Evening each year to which members, guests and partners are invited. The Annual Dinner is held in March with over 300 sitting down to celebrate the year's achievements. The Dinner is the highlight of the year and many 'movers and shakers' in the local transportation scene attend.

We have an active golfing group and the winners of the Harold Scott trophy represent the Branch each year in the Locan Cup. The Branch has won the Cup on numerous occasions!
