    John McRobert has worked for the Northern Ireland Roads Service (now TransportNI) since its formation in 1973, and prior to that for four years with Antrim County Council following his graduation from Queen’s University Belfast. His early career was in structural design, then 25 years in highway maintenance and new works before returning to lead the Highway Structures Unit. He has a strong interest in development of new materials and methods to achieve improved results in construction and maintenance.

It will discuss and identify how such a scheme would fit with the Belfast Metropolitan Transport Plan.     Kaine is a Chartered Civil Engineer with experience in the entire lifecycle of highway infrastructure projects from scheme development through to procurement, construction supervision...

    Kaine is a Chartered Civil Engineer with experience in the entire lifecycle of highway infrastructure projects from scheme development through to procurement, construction supervision and asset management.

    He graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2011 with a first class Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. Since then he has held various positions within TransportNI, including Construction Procurement Category Manager and Assistant Supervisor on the £130m A8 Belfast to Larne dualling project. He is currently the Assistant Strategic Road Improvement Programme Manager responsible for the day-to-day management and delivery of a major programme of improvements to Northern Ireland’s Strategic Road Network.

    Kaine is also completing doctoral (PhD) research on a part-time basis at Queen’s University Belfast.  His research aims to assess the influence of climate on the hydrology and stability of infrastructure slopes through an extensive laboratory and field investigation. He has also contributed to the development of geotechnical asset management and remediation strategies for some of Northern Ireland’s higher risk geotechnical assets. This research is supervised by Dr. David Hughes and funded by TransportNI.

    Since joining the committee in 2013, Kaine has been extremely active in promoting the role of the Institution to younger members through his involvement in the Young Professionals’ Group. He assumed the role of Recruitment Officer in 2016.

    Clive has 30 years experience in the delivery of public transport ranging from heavy rail, metro and light rail projects to tendered bus services.

    Clive has 30 years experience in the delivery of public transport ranging from heavy rail, metro and light rail projects to tendered bus services.  He joined London Underground as a graduate civil engineer in 1986 and was involved in the design and construction of major works.  In 1996 he transferred to Transport for London and became Project Manager for the £200m Croydon Tramlink PFI scheme.  Once Tramlink was operational Clive moved to London Buses Limited to gain operational experience as the Performance Delivery Manager for all bus services in south London.  Upon moving to Northern Ireland in 2001, Clive spent the first 18 months commuting back to GB to work for Network Rail on a variety of projects.  Finally in 2003 he became the Infrastructure Executive for Translink heading a Division of approximately 320 staff with responsibilities for the management of the operational and commercial estates, the operation of the rail network along with the provision and maintenance of all stations, depots, garages, track, signalling and structures used to deliver bus and rail public transport services in Northern Ireland.

    Dr Andrew Murray is the Deputy Secretary in the Department for Infrastructure, with responsibility for Roads and Rivers. He has gained widespread experience of highway issues. Following periods as the Divisional Manager of Roads Service's Northern and Eastern Divisions, and a brief spell as Head of Transportation in that organisation, Andrew was appointed Chief Executive of Roads Service in 2012. His role was increased to include the NI Rivers Agency when the new Department for Infrastructure (DfI) was created in May 2016. Andrew represents DfI on a number of NI and UK bodies and chaired the UK Roads Board between 2011 and 2016.

After three years working in local government in England, he moved to the private sector  and worked in London and overseas, for a number of engineering consultants.   He returned to Northern Ireland in 1995  to start work with the legacy AECOM company Oscar Faber TPA. Tim is a Past Chairman of the Branch, and is currently a Regional Director with AECOM, leading the province’s Strategic Planning & Advisory team within the Transportation division.
