Mike works as a Project Manager for Jacobs on process engineering projects. He is currently working on a major pipeline project across the middle east.
 

He was previously Director of Transportation within the Local Government business working on various long term partnering contracts throughout the UK.  This role involved collaboration for major projects nationally and developing new and existing relationships in the UK. He is a keen cyclist and has a continuing interest in sustainable transport.

Andrew is a Principal Transport Planner for Hampshire County Council. Andrew is based at the County Council's, Environment Department, Hampshire Highways South office at Fareham . Andrew previously worked for Havant Borough Council where he was responsible for transport policy, development control (highway issues) and traffic management.

Alex is a Principal Transport Planner for Mott MacDonald and is based at their Southampton office. He is a senior member of the Airport Surface Access team, providing technical advice to regional and international airports in the UK. Alex previously worked for Atkins and Parkman; managing LTP projects within Atkins/HCC Partnership Framework and undertaking development planning for residential and commercial sites.

 

Steve has over 30 years experience as a Chartered Civil Engineer in the design and project management of a wide range of buildings and highways infrastructure, clean and waste water treatment works and sewerage; flood risk and transport assessments. He has served 10 years on the CIHT Southern Branch committee and is currently  Web Officer. Steve's business, South Coast Civil Engineering, is providing technical resources to Hampshire County Council under the TRF Framework 2012 to 2016. Working within the Highways Consultancy, he has been engaged on the development of capital projects such as M27 Junction 5 Phase 3 -£1.9m lane widening of east and west bound slip roads onto M27 and Stoneham Lane/ Way approaches. Len Parkers career commenced in 1952 when he joined Sir Donald Baileys team at the Military Engineering Experimental Establishment (M.E.X.E.) Christchurch, Hampshire. He has worked in all four sectors of our industry, Civil Service, Contractor, Consultant and Local Government in the UK and overseas working on highway, airport and other infrastructure development. For much of that time he has been involved with the UK Motorway programme from its very earliest days in the northwest, through to major maintenance projects in more recent years. His appointment in 1974 to the RCU Surrey Sub Unit and to Surrey CC as County Materials Engineer entailed a move from Westmorland and a change of Branch allegiance.  Since that time he has fulfilled numerous roles for the Institution and County Surveyors’ Society, serving on Council, Construction and Education Boards, BSI Committees, ICE Thames Valley Transport Group, The Motorway Archive Trust and Engineering Council Surrey Regional Organisation. His primary interest in the affairs of the Institution is in the education and professional development of young engineers, acting as Chief Examiner for the Institution’s  former Diploma in Highway Construction and Maintenance and more recently as the Chairman of the Individual Case Assessment Panel. A role he has now handed on to Ian Cross of this Branch.

For services to the profession Len has received a number of awards: an MBE in 1993, Honorary Life Membership of CIHT and of IHE and for lifetime achievement the Worshipful Company of Paviors Medal for Excellence.

Keith has nearly 30 years experience in the transport industry, working predominantly in a range of positions in Local Government, but also Consultancies and with a Transport Operator.

He has experience in all aspects of Project Management, Transport Planning, Policy Formulation, Passenger Transport, Traffic Management and development of major schemes.

He is a Fellow of both the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and a Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Keith is Head of Strategic Transport for Hampshire County Council, covering county-wide responsibility for transport planning, policy, development planning, Capital Programme, Traffic Management and Road Safety, along with retaining his former responsibility of leading Transport for South Hampshire (TfSH). He is currently working closely with both the Solent LEP and the Enterprise M3 LEP.

Over 30yrs experience in Local Government specialising in Highway Engineering culminating in the post of Operations Manager to Surrey CC Trunk Roads Group. Transferred to Highways Agency Area 3 under TUPE in 1997 joining Mott MacDonald as Network and Tunnel Manager for the commission.

Joined Carillion in 2000 to head up their Quality submission for the Area 5 TMC Contract and upon winning was appointed Network Manager responsible for Safety Inspection of the Network, Tunnel Maintenance Management and the Continuous Improvement Programme.

Joined InterRoute in 2004 as Network and Tunnel Manager to obtain MAC Contract experience and to promote joined up team working which culminated in the amalgamation of the Network and Construction Teams into one homogeneous team.
In 2006 I set up my own Company and provided consultancy services to Clients such as TfL, Contractors and others advising in best practise and value for money with particular reference to Partnership Contracts eg. NEC 3

Headhunted in 2008 to join Le Crossing Co Ltd as Tunnel Safety Engineer where I served until September 2009. In January 2010 I joined Capita Symonds/MMB Associates for a secondment to the Highways Agency to act as Project Manager (Systems Integration) for the A3 Hindhead Tunnel. This currently involves overseeing the installation of the M&E equipment and transitioning the tunnel from construction to maintenance and operation with the Area 3 MAC contractor by the summer of 2011.

My goal is to continue working in the profession for as long as I am able to serve the industry. Also to train and encourage younger members to develop their careers appropriately by giving them help and encouragement where I can.

Libby has over ten years marketing communications and customer service experience gained within companies providing services to the public sector.  She has worked for Amey since 2007 and prior to that worked with Accord for nearly eight years.

At Amey she has worked on both the Hampshire and Transport for London highway maintenance contracts and now oversees communications activities across all Amey’s contracts. In this role she ensures that communications are good quality and aligned to contract and corporate objectives as well as client requirements.

Libby has a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing and an Honours Degree in Geography. As well as being a member of the CIHT she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

Luke has been an active branch member since 2003.  Luke has been Membership Officer, Vice Chair and Branch Chair 2009/11.  Luke’s branch role is now to liaise with CIHT Council.  From CEng, IEng to TPP CIHT is able to provide routes to professional status and Southern Branch is here to help.  Twice a year we will run session promoting the qualifications and twice a year a advisory / surgery session to guide you to success in the reviews so keep an eye on events or let us know your interest.

Also we will be establishing a mentoring network.  For those of you in the large companies and organisations we will be able to point you to the right people in your organisation for the support you need.  In the smaller companies and organisations we are aiming to establish a network of willing mentors to match you up with and support you through the process and ensure you are ready.

Luke’s career has taken him around the world to recently setting up his own consultancy business, Metis Consultants Ltd. Luke has worked in highway maintenance contracting from site engineer to Operations Director of a county council as well as a Project Engineer for local authority taking highway safety and improvement schemes form feasibility through design, consultation and implementation. While in working overseas in Hong Kong Luke worked as a consultant engineer designing and supervising implementation of structural improvements and enhancements as well as geotechnical works on slope stabilisation.

Luke’s breadth of experience helps me to understand the needs of the engineering profession but also of those working within it. The possibility of making a difference in developing the IHT excites me and I will ensure the IHT remains focused on the needs of its membership and nurtures the next generation of highway and transportation professionals.

Rachel is a Transport Consultant working at Russell Giles Partnership in Godalming. She has 5 years of experience, specialising in transport and travel planning. As Social Officer for the Southern Branch Rachel's role is to raise awareness of the CIHT and actively engage members. As part of this task she is Administrator of the Young Professionals Working Group, a forum for the sharing of ideas managed using LinkedIn.Rachel would very much like to hear from members / prospective members in relation to organising social activities and encouraging greater participation.
