Stuart is a Director and Chairman of Stuart Michael Associates Limited
He has over 30 years professional experience in transportation, structures and infrastructure design both within the public sector and in private practice. In May 1988 Stuart set up Stuart Michael Associates, initially specialising in transport and development infrastructure appraisals. The company is now a multi-disciplinary firm encompassing transportation, infrastructure planning and design, civils and structural engineering, environmental impact assessments and project management. Stuart regularly acts as an expert witness at public inquiries providing evidence on transportation, highways and traffic engineering, road safety and traffic impact assessments. Currently responsible for the management and day-to-day running of the transportation group at SMA.

Phil is a Chartered Civil Engineer and Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation with over 35 years experience in the Highway Sector. For the last 20 years Phil has fulfilled various senior management roles in Highway Maintenance organisations from both Public and Private Sector. In addition to being an active member of the CIHT Phil has also been engaged with the wider Highways Sector via involvement with HTMA, HELG, NHT. He is currently a Director within Atkins Highway Services.
John is a principal engineer with Peter Brett Associates in their Reading office. He has worked for PBA for the past 20 years.
Naomi is currently a Senior Engineer at Atkins working within the partnership with Oxfordshire County Council.
Naomi is a specialist in road safety engineering and a qualified road safety auditor but also has experience of a variety of Traffic and Transportation related schemes, from cycle routes, parking schemes, speed limits, accident reduction etc, She has undertaken audits on small scale local authority schemes to larger Highways Agency schemes.
Her career in the industry started as a graduate in 1997 at Babtie Group the TUPEing to West Berkshire Council. In 2002 she moved to Aktkins to gain a wider experience in the field of Traffic and Transportation and Road Safety. Returning to Jacobs/Babtie in 2004 she continued her career in field becoming a Senior Engineer before TUPEing back to Atkins in July 2010.
She became a member of the IHT in 2004 and joined the Thames and Chiltern Branch committee in 2007. .
Hide BiographyClaire is currently working at PFA Consulting in Swindon as a Project Manager for their transport and traffic team. She is responsible for the management and co-ordination of transportation projects, supporting them through the local planning process. Projects include new settlements, urban extensions, commercial, retail, education and residential developments.
Her career started in 2004 as a Graduate Engineer at WSP Development and Transportation. Since then she has also worked at Peter Brett Associates.
She became a Member of the IHT in 2008 and joined the Thames and Chilterns Branch Committee in 2009.

Steve Howell is Head of Transport at Oxfordshire County Council leading a large service responsible for all aspects of Transport and Highways including Transport Policy and Planning, Highway Management and Implementation. He also has the role of Oxfordshire’s Traffic Manager. Steve joined Oxfordshire 2 years ago from a similar role in Bath and North East Somerset unitary authority. He has previously worked in a similar post on the Isle of Wight. Before that he has worked for local government in Merseyside and South Yorkshire. Just to round this off he has also had a spell working as a consultant in the private sector in Manchester.

David worked at Peter Brett Associates until the end of 2005 when he retired after 20 years with the firm.
He joined the branch in 1991. During his time on the committee has served as branch Chairman from 1997 to 1998 and as branch Secretary from 1998 to 2005. He was elected Treasurer in 2007. He has always been heavily involved in the organisation of the branch’s annual Sonning conference.
In 2006 he was awarded the Institution’s Certificate of Merit for services to the branch.
In retirement he now spends his time helping at his local Citizen’s Advice Bureau, tinkering with an elderly MG, DIY and gardening chores.

Hide BiographyDavid is the PFI Director for Ringway with VINCI Ringway currently bidding two major highway PFI projects for the London Borough of Hounslow and the Isle of Wight. His career in the highways industry started in 1979 as a graduate with Hampshire County Council, from where he moved to the Royal County of Berkshire and then Babtie Group, before joining Ringway in 2001. David has been a member of the branch committee since 1994 and served for a number of years as the branch meetings secretary. He was chairman of the Thames and Chilterns Branch in 2007/2008 and was previously chairman of the South Midlands Branch in 2000/2001. As well as being the branch member on Council David is also a member of the Executive Board.
