    Chris Young

    Chris has over 15 years’ experience specialising in Highways and Traffic Engineering, Road Safety Auditing and Project Management, where he is currently seconded to Birmingham City Council.

    Chris is a member of the CIHT, and SoRSA along with sitting on the CIHT West Midlands Region Committee. He has over 15 years’ experience specialising in Highways and Traffic Engineering, Road Safety Auditing and Project Management, where he is currently seconded to Birmingham City Council to provide strategic Highways support to a number of major projects and developments on behalf of the City such as HS2, Paradise Development, Metro Tram and Bus Sprint schemes.

    Throughout secondments to various Local Authorities Chris has delivered a number of high profile schemes such as the multi award winning Public Realm Programme of Shared Space Schemes in Coventry, along with being a key part of the delivery teams for a number of major events such as the Papal Visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Birmingham City in September 2010, Olympic Games Events at Coventry City in 2012 and more recently the Rugby World Cup Matches in Birmingham City in Summer 2015.

    In addition to his secondment role Chris is responsible for overseeing the West Midlands division within Waterman Aspen and jointly leads a team of Area Managers and Technical Directors, along with circa 120 staff seconded to a wide variety of clients within the region. In addition to this, he also heads up the Waterman Road Safety Audit Service nationally, and manages a team of experienced auditors based throughout the United Kingdom, where he has carried out in excess of 1000 Road Safety Audits at Team Leader status to date.

    Adrian has acted as a Project and Programme Manager within Highways England since January 2007. Spending his career within transportation, asset management, and business roles.

    Adrian has acted as a Project and Programme Manager within Highways England since January 2007. Spending his career within transportation, asset management, and business roles, work has included representing the organisation on television and radio, briefing ministers and presenting to the European Commission in Paris.

    He was previously Business Development Manager at Cranfield University. Adrian holds a degree in Information Systems from the University of Hertfordshire.

    Philip Santos

    Philip is a Project Manager working for WSP in Birmingham. Between 2004-2015 Philip worked for Atkins in Birmingham but for the last two years has worked for Mouchel, now integrated as WSP.

    He is currently managing the delivery of various highway schemes for a mixture of Local Authority clients and Highways England.
     
    Philip is Assistant Framework Manager for the West Midlands Transportation Professional Services Framework and is Service Delivery Manager for Warwickshire County Council as part of the West Midlands Highway Alliance. He is also assisting with the delivery of a RIS project for Highways England as well as delivering several schemes for North Yorkshire County Council.
     
    He has previously been Chairman of the ICE Graduates & Students Committee and Chairman of the ICE’s National GSNet Committee.

    Aleksandra Jadanowska

    Aleksandra (Ola) is a Chartered Engineer working for consultants Atkins Global in Birmingham.

    Aleksandra (Ola) is a Chartered Engineer working for consultants Atkins Global in Birmingham.

    In 2006 she graduated with a master’s degree in civil engineering from Gdansk University of Technology and in 2010 she completed the MSc course in Road Management and Engineering at the University of Birmingham. 

    Ola has a background in various highways projects in the UK and Ireland involving new pavement design and maintenance works.

    More recently, she has been involved in management and quality control of the West Midlands Highways Alliance Professional Services Framework.

    For last three years Ola was also a member of Young Professional Committee (CIHT West Midlands Region).

    Peter Parker is a Design Development Manager for transportation projects with Birmingham City Council. He has over 25 years design and project management experience with local authorities and 8 years with Consulting Engineers. 
     
    Peter is leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver capital infrastructure works in the urban area including more recently the Local Sustainable Transport Fund, Ring Road Pinch Points and Local Growth Fund programmes. 
     
    Peter is a Fellow of CIHT, a Reviewer for CEng, IEng and EngTech and a Mentor to a number of Engineers, Peter assisted in establishing the EngTech qualification route in 2012.

Jodie has over 13 years of experience within the transport industry and gained her EngTech qualification in 2014 through the CIHT.

    Richard Ward-Jones

    Richard is a Senior Business Development Manager in Amey’s Consulting and Rail business, responsible for strategy and growth across their highway and rail businesses.

    Richard is a Senior Business Development Manager in Amey’s Consulting and Rail business, responsible for growth across their highway and rail businesses. He has 10 years’ transportation experience, spanning account management, project management, bidding and business improvement. His technical background is in highways Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) and his previous project experience includes HS2, the refurbishment of the A55 tunnels in North Wales and the Birmingham Highways Maintenance and Management Service, Europe’s largest local government highways partnership.

    In addition to being the web officer, Richard is a Board Director of Appian Trading Ltd. (a subsidiary of CIHT) and a committee member on the West Midlands main & Young Professional committees.

    Richard also sits on the committee for the West Midlands branch of the Young Rail Professionals (YRP), where he holds the position of Treasurer, and is a STEM ambassador.

    Surita is an Associate Member of CIHT and is an enthusiastic all-rounder with knowledge of project management and event planning both within public and private sector. She currently works as a Digital Projects Manager for Digital Birmingham, a part of Birmingham City Council and supports Digital and Smart City projects and initatives such as the development of a HS2 Digital Futures Prospectus and the Eastern Corridor Smart Demonstrator.

    Surita has a keen interest in social media, innovation and marketing and uses this as an aid to develop herself in her project management roles. She has worked on a wide range of programmes and campaigns and is invaluable in building and maintaining client relationships.
