Road safety is everyone's priority – every stakeholder in the road ecosystem has a part to play.

"What is a safety camera?"

The perception of detection by road users can be an effective way of ensuring compliance with current rules and improving safety. Safety cameras provide an important and cost-effective method of preventing road casualties and they can also help to reduce injury severity in the event of a collision.

A variety of traffic offences can now be detected and enforced by safety camera including speed, red-light, seatbelt, mobile phone - and more! Nadeem will be covering the approach in Greater Manchester, the national model for Driver Improvement Scheme training, and potential future developments in enforcement technology and operations.

"What is the Safe Systems Approach?"

The Safe Systems approach has existed for a number of years and has been adopted by a number of highway authorities including TfL Highways England.

This presentation will explain the difference between the 'new' approach and traditional road safety and include some examples of its application.
