Birmingham Curzon: Masterplan for growth
Birmingham is undergoing a major urban renaissance with unprecedented investment in and around the city centre.  One of main catalysts steering this investment is the anticipated arrival of HS2 connecting the city to London and the north.
Whilst in itself, high speed rail is a project worthy of detailed analysis against indicators of social and economic growth, it is the physical impact, opportunities and risks such a major piece of infrastructure can bring to an existing functioning cityscape that is currently under debate.
Andrew Fuller is Birmingham’s City Design Manager and he will discuss the programme of works the city is undertaking in order to put in place effective planning measures and public realm strategies that with aim to integrate this project with the city and other existing and planned transport modes.  The talk will address how urban design is key to the successful delivery of major transport infrastructure projects in Britain and how Birmingham must positively embrace such projects that will irreversibly change the way the city functions and thinks.
Date: 17th April 2018

Venue: Birmingham City Council, Room G01A/1B, 1 Lancaster Circus, Queensway, B’ham, B4 7DJ
