5 August 2010 | Branch: South Western
A half day site visit to Weymouth Relief Road has been arranged by kind permission of Dorset County Council and Skanska Civil Engineering, starting at 2.00pm on 5 August.
This is an opportunity to see one of the relatively few new road projects in progress in the South West. The scheme consists of a single carriageway road, linking the A354 Manor Roundabout near Radipole, Weymouth to the A354 at the top of the Ridgeway Hill, near Dorchester.
Work to build the £87.4m road is at an advanced stage with structures substantially completed, chalk stabilisation and drainage in progress and the blacktop underway.
Delegates will be transported around the site in four wheel drive vehicles, and numbers will be strictly limited, with applications accepted on a first come first served basis.
PPE: Those attending should bring their own hard hats, site boots, high visibility jackets, safety glasses and gloves.
There is no charge for this visit. Attendees will be provided with further details.
