2009 IHT North Western Branch Awards Dinner

This year's North Western Branch Awards Dinner was held at the Park Royal Hotel, Stretton Nr. Warrington on Friday 24th April.
Attended by over one hundred and fifty guests, the evening was a resounding success. Awards were presented in three categories:
- Transportation project of the year - Construction and Best Practice
- Transportation project of the year - Transport Planning
- Sustainability project of the year
- Safety project of the year
The standard of entries was extremely high and the judges had their work cut out to arrive at a shortlist.

Chris Jackson, Senior Vice-President and member of the North Western Branch Committee introduced the award categories and gave a synopsis of the winning entries.
The award for North West Sustainability Project of the Year was won by Manchester Airport's Carbon Reduction Plan.

The award for North West Transportation Project of the Year - Construction and Best Practice was won by The Liverpool Canal Link
The award for North West Safety Project of the Year was won for the second year running by the Lancashire Partnership for Road Safety for their Wasted Lives Young Driver Education Programme (Above)
The award for North West Transportation Project of the Year - Transport Planning was won by the Lancaster and Morecambe Vision Transport Strategy (Above).
The after dinner speaker was Nobby Stiles, ex-Manchester United and England Footballer who captivated the audience with his career anecdotes. Comedic relief was provided by Steve Tandy.
