WES Top 50 Women in Engineering 2018
Congratulations to CIHT member Karen Britton, Technical Director at AECOM recognised in the Women’s Engineering Society’s Top 50 Women in Engineering 2018 (WES50). Karen is the Technical Director of the AECOM Aviation team based in St Albans. Karen works with airport clients to realise the full potential of aviation infrastructure. She is a proven leader of complex aviation projects with extensive technical design experience spanning feasibility through to construction support.

The WES50 campaign aims to raise awareness of the skills shortage facing the industry and the huge discrepancy between the number of men vs. women currently in Engineering professions. The campaign aims to change perceptions and encourage young women to consider Engineering as a viable and rewarding career. For 2018, the theme was Returners or Transferrers. Nominations were available to women working in engineering or allied sector/discipline, having either returned after a break of at least 18 months or transferred to engineering from another sector.
