 All students on Highways and Transportation courses are given the opportunity to join CIHT. Membership is FREE to all full-time and most part-time students, please complete the online application form below.

  • Conferences and seminars – a programme of high-quality learning events is available throughout the country, often at special rates for students. These cover a wide range of topics and can be really useful if you’re stuck on a project or need some practical tips and advice. Full details of forthcoming local and national events are available here
  • Transportation Professional – CIHT’s industry magazine provides comprehensive coverage of leading business news. Published ten times a year, each issue features leading articles and interviews with industry figures, as well as detailing CIHT news, people and events. Multiple copies are sent to UK universities where you will be able to read a copy at your leisure. Or, you can order your own personal copy for a nominal fee. The magazine is also available online to all CIHT members – just login to 'My CIHT' at the very top of this page.
  • www.ciht.org.uk – whatever stage you have reached in your career, logging on to CIHT’s website provides instant access to an online supportive community of around 10,000 transportation professionals. Featuring an industry news and publications, CIHT’s website is an ideal resource for any transportation professional.
  • Publications – CIHT publishes a range of high quality technical guidelines that disseminate best practice in a particular area. All are offered to students at a discounted price and are an excellent way to get up to speed with topical items, or help with exam revision.
  • Young members groups – many branches have set up groups that are specifically aimed at providing services for both students and recent graduates. To find out about a branch in your area, please go to our branch pages.

or part-time study and/or in-service training in highways and transportation
and/or road safety and/or working towards a certified level 4/5 N/SVQ.
