These Guidelines, produced in partnership with the Freight Transport Association, suggest ways to manage freight distribution. Part I describes freight movement and its economic benefits; the environmental consequences; and relevant legislation. Part II covers the strategic movement of freight in rural and urban areas and explains how policies can be used to improve economic efficiency, and reduce adverse environmental effects. The Guidelines conclude with a toolkit of measures that have been proven to assist freight operations.

Electronic Document Licence
Agreement for the Purchase and Use of the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) electronic technical guidance documents. This is a non-transferable, non-exclusive licence.
CIHT as the Licensor of the technical guidance document(s) and in consideration of the Purchase fee, permits the use of the document(s) subject to the following conditions:
1. The technical guidance document(s) shall be used by the Licensee only and may not be sold, given or loaned or otherwise made available to any third party.
2. The technical guidance document(s) or any part thereof, may not be copied or otherwise distributed without the express permission of the Licenser.
3. The Licenser accepts no responsibility for any claims, demands, proceedings, damages, costs, charges and expenses whatsoever arising out of or in connection with or as a consequence of the licensee’s use of the technical guidance document(s). No Warranty, express, implicit or implied is given other than under the terms of this Licence Agreement.
4. It is the intention of the licenser that this Agreement shall be considered a contract, made in England and subject to the Laws of England and Wales and the jurisdiction of the English Courts.
