Who can apply

Achieving the TPP qualification may be more straightforward than you think. There are several routes to gaining the qualification. If you do not have relevant academic qualifications you are able to submit a Technical Report to demonstrate that you have the expertise required of a professional transport planner before proceeding to the Portfolio of Evidence and Professional Review stages.

Candidates must:

  1. Be full members of either CIHT or TPS

  2. Provide evidence that they have achieved an appropriate level of learning, either through the attainment of formal qualifications and/or structured vocational training, or through submission of a report which demonstrates achievement of the learning outcomes to the satisfaction of CIHT and TPS

  3. Demonstrate competence across a broad range of transport planning procedures and managerial techniques

  4. Have practical experience in transport planning, and have been engaged on a variety of transport planning projects to demonstrate the breadth and depth of competence required for the TPP qualification

  5. Be able to show that they have undertaken a minimum of 25 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) a year for at least two years prior to making their TPP application
