Call for nominations 2012-2015

Call for expressions of interest to represent the UK on the World Road Association (WRA) Technical Committees for 2012-2015

 

The WRA UK is pleased to invite a call for expressions of interest to represent the UK on the WRA Technical Committees (TCs) for the 2012-2015 term. The WRA UK and our sponsor Government Departments view the role of the TC representative as critical to ensuring international best practice is considered in development of policy and standards. The new requirement for the TC representative to report to UK Roads Liaison Group (UKRLG) raises the profile of the TC representative significantly. With the privilege of the position comes the responsibility to foster the community of interest in the UK to improve the effectiveness of input to WRA and also dissemination of knowledge from the TC.

If you are interested in you or a colleague from your organisation/company wish to be involved please read the information below and provide the required documentation listed:

What you need to do:

1. Confirm that you will work to the requirements listed in the document attached:  Guidance for UK Technical Representatives 2012-15  
2. Confirm you have support from your organisation/company (for TC reps there will be a requirement to attend international meetings and the cost to cover this will need to be agreed in advance of the four year cycle N.B it is important that the TC rep effectively participate in the work of the Committee) .
3. State which Technical Committee you are interested in being associated with. A full list of TC and their expected work-plans over the next four years can be found in the document attached: Strategic Plan 2012-2015  
4. Please outline the level(s) of engagement (member, corresponding member, associate member - young professionals would be favoured in this category) your organisation/company would like to take (detailed in the Blue Guide in the document attached: Guidance for UK Technical Representatives 2012-15).

You must submit:
• A current CV.
• A covering letter including the requested information above (points 1-4) and how the competencies of the nominee are closely connected with the objectives of work assigned to the Technical Committee that you wish to work with.

Process
• A sub-group of the Executive Committee of WRA UK will review all applications. A final decision on the selected nominees will rest with Jim Barton, First Delegate – his decision is final and there will be no appeals process.

Timescales:
• Closing date for nominations: 6 January 2012.
• Nominees will be notified of the results of the selection process by 14 January 2012 (when the UK nominations are forwarded to Paris for sanction).
• The first meetings of the new Technical Committees will be held in Paris, in March 2012.
