Welcome to our Dinner and Annual Awards page, where you will find the latest Annual Awards submission guidelines, timetables and sponsorship information. We will update this website throughout the summer and early autumn, as tickets for the Dinner go on sale, and final plans for the evening are announced.
This year the Awards will be presented at our Annual Dinner at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle on Thursday 17th October. Details of how to book your place will be released soon.
The CIHT North East & Cumbria Annual Awards celebrate the very best the region offers across the key areas of highways and transportation. They are open to everyone: members and non-members; small and large organisations; public, private and third sector. The Awards recognise the outstanding contribution that good projects and people make to our daily lives.
This year we are launching a new award, Innovation Project of the Year, alongside our regular awards - Project of the Year, Sustainability Project of the Year, Young Professional of the Year and Apprentice of the Year.
We would be grateful if you could submit your expression of intent by 19 July 2019. Award entry forms can be downloaded from this site and completed entry forms should be received by 9 September 2019.

Our newly launched Innovation Project of the Year Award is to recognise projects that identify or apply new innovations and techniques that are of benefit to the highways and transportation industry in the North East & Cumbria, or have been developed by people working in the area. It can relate to design, construction, management, digital applications, product development or any other facet of the industry and include projects of any size.
The Project of the Year Award is to recognise and encourage imaginative research, concepts and excellence within the highways and transportation industry where a marked positive benefit has been achieved in the North East & Cumbria or been produced by people working in the area. It can relate to design, construction, management, product development or any other facet of the industry and include projects of any size.
The Sustainable Project of the Year Award recognises projects, products, policy initiatives, research or strategies delivered in the past two years by the highways and transportation industry that can demonstrate a contribution to sustainable working and living in the North East & Cumbria or been undertaken by people working in the area. Entries can be made via this pro forma and you should look to provide a response to each section, demonstrating your reasons for your submission.
