The Foundation has been created by CIHT to receive charitable donations
from collections and other appeals to distribute to activities and projects that we can support as part of our charitable aims. The means that the focus will be on educational or innovative proposals that advance the art and science of highways and transportation. The funds raised go into a restricted CIHT account so that they can only be used strictly for this purpose.
The 2008 Annual Lunch collection raised £12,500 and when gift aid and
other donations are taken into consideration the Fund started with a sum approaching £15,000. A management committee under the chairmanship of David Hutchinson directs the work of the Foundation. The committee meets regularly to consider applications for grants against a
set of agreed criteria.
A Foundation promotional leaflet is available for circulation to potential applicants including for example local schools, colleges and relevant local organisations. The pack is available on request for anyone wishing to apply or wishing to pass onto potential applicants.
The management committee have agreed the criteria and guiding principles
for applicants to address in submitting bids for funds. The aim is to keep the paperwork and procedures involved simple, fair and transparent to encourage a wide range of ideas for projects and schemes.
Any one wishing to apply for a grant should read the Foundation Criteria and Guidance document. To receive a word document form please email: Foundation@ciht.org.uk.
The next scheduled meeting of the Foundation Management Committee will be on 25 February 2010. To be considered at this meeting applications will need to be submitted no later than 15 Februrary 2010.
