Project Manager, Matt Mollart, will introduce Salford Council’s unique and highly commended (CIHTs NW Environmental/Sustainability Award 2023) Swinton Greenway scheme to attendees. Sections of the predominantly traffic-free 7km route will be visited during this CPD event with design constraints explained, alongside the choices made to create not only an attractive walking and cycling route but a place to visit, sit and enjoy.
Unique features of the scheme include a surface finish of porous resin-bound material, utilising 50% recycled tyres otherwise bound for landfill, and motion activated lighting which facilitates use of the route, sustainably, during darker times of the day/ year.
This site visit is open to anyone with an intertest in highways and transportation. It is particularly aimed at Transport Planners, Highways Engineers, Sustainable/ Active Travel Practitioners.

Upon entry to the football club car park a member of the CIHT North West Committee will meet anyone on a bike and direct them to somewhere suitable to park it.
