Members, Fellows, Associates, Graduates, Apprentices and Part Time Students keen on doing more to help represent their profession and boost their portfolio are strongly encouraged to register their interest in becoming CIHT Council members.
Council advises on the strategic and professional direction of the Institution, so by becoming a Council member you will be able to play an important role in shaping the future of the Institution for many years to come.
In June 2022 there will be three vacancies for Ordinary Members of Council.
Deborah Sims, CIHT President, explains why someone should join Council:
I think there are three reasons for joining Council. Firstly, it's an opportunity to influence your industry, contribute to the wider debate around transport and help steer the direction of CIHT. Secondly, it's a good way of promoting your company and your sector. We need more diversity from across the whole profession, and if you think your company, or, your professional interests within the highways and transportation industry are underrepresented, this is an opportunity to change that. Finally, it's an opportunity to develop new skills and promote yourself within the industry and your company; raising your profile, providing you with networking opportunities, and widening your horizons!
Council meetings are held three times per year. Council members are elected for a period of three years and may stand for re-election for a further three-year term. In addition to serving on Council, all Council members are asked to contribute by serving either on a Board, Panel or taking up other advisory roles.
Nominations will open on 15 November 2021 and must be supported by four fully paid-up voting members (Members, Fellows, Associates, Graduates, Apprentices and Part Time Students). Register your interest below if you would like more information.
