Interim Registration

Interim Registration confirms that you have completed academic learning that provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for your chosen professional title. It demonstrates your enthusiasm, drive and commitment to the profession and to developing the professional competence required for full registration.

Once your registration has been processed, you will receive an interim registration certificate from the Engineering Council.

To be eligible for interim registration you must:

  • Be a Graduate Member, Associate Member, Member or Fellow
  • Have received an initial assessment outcome e-mail advising that you are eligible to proceed via the Standard Route. If you have not yet submitted an initial assessment, you can do so here.
  • Complete and return the Interim Registration Application Form which CIHT will send to you via e-mail (if you are eligible).
  • Pay the initial registration fee of £10.60 and thereafter the annual fee of £14.20 (2019 fees)

Once we have received your Interim Registration Application Form and you have made the registration payment, the Engineering Council will issue you with an interim registration certificate for the relevant professional title, within 6 weeks.

Please note that interim registration does not entitle you to use the title's post nominals – you can only use these once you are fully registered.
