Executive Assistant to Chief Executive Officer

Salary up to £35,000 depending on experience  
35 hour week

CIHT is a registered charity and membership organisation, based near Old Street Station in London. We represent a thriving, increasingly diverse, membership of circa 14,000 professionals who build, maintain, operate, design and plan transport infrastructure.

CIHT wishes to appoint a highly efficient and service driven EA to support the CEO on a day to day basis. The successful applicant will also provide support to the President, Presidential team and four Directors. The main responsibilities include complex diary management, co-ordinating meetings and documents, preparing draft correspondence, organising and coordinating travel and itineraries, editing documents, coordinating briefing papers, reports and presentations, and maintaining office systems including data management and filing.

The successful candidate will have excellent EA skills commensurate with working to a senior manager and have the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. The successful candidate will need to combine professionalism with good humour and a proactive approach. In addition, the EA will need to juggle conflicting demands, plan ahead to anticipate needs, and deal effectively with senior staff, stakeholders and members at all levels.

Regional Engagement Officer

North East, Cumbria and Yorkshire and Humber (one post)

Salary - £28k pro rata (14 hours per week) plus benefits

CIHT is a registered charity and thriving membership organisation, based near Old Street Station in London. We represent 14,000 people who work in the highways and transportation sector. We have 12 regions and nations, and a number of international groups. We are seeking to appoint one new Regional Engagement Officer (REO) to join the current team. This role is home based.

This important role is an integral part of the membership team, with a focus on member recruitment, engagement and communication. The Regional Engagement Officer acts as the primary point of contact between their regions and the Institution’s staff at Britannia Walk. They work with the volunteer members on the Regional Committees to ensure that CIHT members are supported locally and that new members are encouraged to join.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

This role requires excellent interpersonal skills, good spoken and written English and the ability to communicate and build relationships with a range of stakeholders, at all levels, and an understanding of member engagement and working with volunteers.

In addition, the post holder will need an understanding of data protection and handling confidential data appropriately, as well as good organisational skills and an eye for detail. The successful candidate will have a positive attitude and the ability to work constructively and productively as part of a busy team. This role requires travel within the UK, some of which may require overnight stays. A willingness to do this is essential.

Ideally you will hold a degree, or an equivalent qualification, and be able to demonstrate IT skills including use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and experience of using a CRM system.
