CIHT are looking to recruit for 2 positions:
1. Policy Advisor – Transport Infrastructure
2. Policy Advisor – Transport Technology
The person(s) will support the Policy & Technical Affairs Team to:
• Have a leading voice.
• Deliver real impact.
• Have relevancy for now and future.
The Policy Advisor(s) will learn and grow into becoming a knowledge subject expert supporting CIHT Policy development through a range of medium: think pieces, interviews, published papers, policy work, research, blogs, webinars.

Working with CIHT staff and members to develop and run research and policy projects;
Work with members to share and create a vibrant online community through digital platforms;
Support the development of digital and in-person events that are stimulating - delivering real content and knowledge by identifying interesting content and programmes for events;
Work as knowledge expert generating engaging website content through blogs, news stories, etc,;
Support the development of technical knowledge through an annual Awards programme
Support the identification and sourcing of technical content;
Work with members to represent CIHT’s view to relevant consultations from government and industry bodies;
Where appropriate provide support to the external consultancy projects carried out by CIHT
Other duties within the competence of the job holder as required by CIHT.
Skills and Experience:
Degree (ideally in applicable subject).
At least two years’ experience gained in a policy or research environment.
A clear interest in Highways and Transportation
Skills and/or experience in job position area.
Research skills including experience of conducting surveys, interviews, and desktop research.
Project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Analytical skills and ability to synthesise policy and technical information into communicable outputs for a range of audiences.
Degree Level or equivalent education.
Demonstrate knowledge and interest in specialist role area (*).
A confident communicator, good at understanding what people want to achieve.
Ability to listen and engage with members to identify the key issues that we want members to be engaged with.
Demonstrate impact and influence.
Have flair, drive, enthusiasm, creativity.
Ability to mine knowledge to create really interesting content.
To own a subject matter.
To be able to generate thought leadership content.
Demonstrate enthusiasm about the importance of policy work
Experience of using IT, including CRM systems, Microsoft suit of programmes, web and social media to work effectively with colleagues, CIHT volunteers and stakeholders
Meeting the requirements of CIHT competency framework for the role.
Experience of a membership/voluntary organisation either as a member/volunteer or employee
Salary – up to £30k – dependent on experience

The role be home based until restrictions are lifted and return to offices is permitted. Flexible working is supported by CIHT, however at least two-days per week will be office based (Old Street, London).
