CIHT East of England Region Cambridge Conference 2016
Big Ideas need Big Decisions
Our fourth event to be held in the auspicious surroundings of Cambridge Union Society will build on previous previous conferences to consider how our sector is moving in political, economic and technological terms and how that may impact on both the industry as a whole and the eastern region in particular.
We hope to be joined by the incoming DfT Director General for Roads, Devolution and Motoring, Ms Patricia Hayes who will open our conference with her Keynote Speech and Our President Mr Steve Rowsell who will offer the CIHT Corporate address.
The programme will include presentations on benefits of Crossrail 2, the aspirations and expectation of England’s Economic Heartland; Smart Cities drive for sustainable transport, Priority driven asset management in times of severe budget constraint, Highways England approach to greater control and direction of investment and activity.
After lunch we will focus on how technology can influence our future thinking and how communication systems will continue to support transport movement; what our industry thinks of itself through the CIHT Futures study and conclude with our formal debate on whether the general public will embrace demand responsive driverless vehicles.
