Peterborough has over 300 bridges, the oldest dating from the 16th century. This talk will trace the history of these bridges, how the River Nene, the coming of the Railways , the Development Corporation and later developments have contributed to a rich history of bridges in Peterborough.
Speaker:
Brian Keegan began his career in the Water Industry in 1965, initially with the Greater London Council and then with Anglian Water, becoming Chartered in 1975 and progressing to the role Engineering Manager of the Lincoln Design Office. Between 1999 and 2003 he was Assistant Head of Transport and Engineering for Peterborough City Council in charge of street lighting, drainage and bridges, hence his abiding interest in bridges.
