Overview

This presentation will give a brief description of the Auckland system, the challenges and how this piece of work is a change from the previous approach of using Programme Business Cases. It will cover some of the new approach, new expectation on outcomes / outputs and some lessons learnt, given there will be more strategic transport plans across NZ being developed over time.

Speakers

	Chad Baker - Regional System Design Lead, NZTA Chad has over twenty-four years of experience in the transport sector in New Zealand across policy, regulatory, transport planning, procurement, business case and investment disciplines. Key roles include Regional System Design Lead for the Central and Lower South Island, Team Lead Partnership Investments and various principal advisory and steering group roles.
	Gavin Smith - Regional System Design Lead, NZTA Gavin is the Regional System Lead and was one of the co-leads responsible for the delivery of the Auckland Motorway Strategic Plan. He has worked in the New Zealand transport sector since 2000 across transport planning, transport modelling and business casing for consultants , Auckland Transport and now NZ Transport Agency.
	Andrew Foy - Technical Director, Mott MacDonald Andrew is a transport planner with 30 years’ experience in delivering transport planning, traffic engineering, strategy development, transport and traffic modelling, design and operations in New Zealand and Australia. As Transport Planning lead for the Auckland Motorway Strategic Plan, he helped shape and develop the long term direction and strategic approach to provide for long term growth of demand on the motorway network.
