This presentation will provide an update on the progress of the Northern Ireland Executive Flagship A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe Dualling project.
The £220million, 25.5km dualling project, which includes a bypass of Dungiven, commenced in April 2018 and is scheduled for completion in spring 2022.
The A6 is a strategically important route as it connects the North West to Belfast and beyond and the aim is to improve road safety and journey times by reducing congestion.

Colin Hutchinson, Divisional Roads Manager at DfI Roads
Colin is a Chartered Engineer and has worked in a variety of posts in Roads for 28 years. For the past 15 years he has worked in the Department’s Strategic Road Improvement Team, leading the successfully delivery of a programme of more than 60km of dual carriageway schemes to a value well exceeding £0.5 Billion. Colin is the Senior Responsible Officer for the A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe scheme and the A6 Randalstown to Castledawson scheme. He is currently the Acting Divisional Roads Manager for DfI Roads Northern Division.
Michael Megarry, Project Manager, A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe dualling scheme at AECOM
Michael Megarry is the Project Manager for the A6 Dungiven to Drumahoe dualling scheme. A Chartered Engineer with more than 23 years’ civil engineering experience across both the public and private sectors, he has been involved in the planning and delivery of road improvements throughout Northern Ireland. This includes experience in traffic management, transportation measures, bridge assessment, structural design, safety barrier design and specification, contract preparation, site management, strategic transport planning, management of road resurfacing, minor works and bridge maintenance programmes.
Michael Troughton, Project Director at Wills Bros
Michael Troughton is the Project Director for SWSJV and leads the contracting team responsible for design and build of the £220m A6D2D Dualling scheme. A Chartered Engineer with more than 25 years’ Civil Engineering experience across varied sectors and locations, Michael actively encourages and promotes the professional development of people in the industry.
