ACT TravelWise Spring Conference - Transport in the 21st Century

The 2012 ACT TravelWise Spring Conference is being held at the University of Essex on Friday 30th March 2012. This national conference will showcase ‘Transport in the 21st Century’, with presentations delivered from some of the UKs leading practitioners in the transport and technology field. The conference provides the opportunity for delegates to explore two sides of the transport planning industry, firstly new technology and how it can be used to enhance the way we research and deliver transport projects and secondly, the application of successful sustainable transport projects.

Morning Session: Transport technology innovations

The morning will be dedicated to showcasing latest developments in how IT is being deployed within smarter choices projects, including presentations on ‘crowd sourcing / data mining’ and ‘how social media can be used to successfully deliver improved transport outcomes’. In keeping with the technology theme the conference will host a social media room for delegates to ‘check in’ on Facebook and tweet about the conference!

Afternoon Session: Call for papers – Sustainable transport success stories

The afternoon sessions will focus on smarter choices delivery, with carefully selected speakers shortlisted from an earlier ACT TravelWise ‘call for papers’. The presentations will showcase successful approaches for smarter choices delivery. Presentations will cover a range of topics including personalised walking campaigns, travel information plans, car clubs and pro-active travel planning. The conference will conclude with interactive ‘hands-on’ workshop sessions.

Additional Features
It doesn’t all have to start with the conference, why not get to the University on Thursday 29th March to take part in the pre-conference events! ACT TravelWise will be organising a site visit to Southend followed by an evening of networking and entertainment in Colchester*.
