17 November 2016 - 1 January 0001, 19:00-00:00 -

Annual James Attwood Shield Lecture 2016

Date: Thursday 17 November 2016
Time: 18:30 for 19:00 start
Venue: Inverness Town House, Main Hall

Presented by Inverness Architectural Association for CPDC-HI

Speaker: Andrew Wright OBE, PPRIAS, RIBA, Chartered Architect & Heritage Consultant

Andrew draws upon a lifetime’s interest in industrial archaeology and, in particular, railway history in
recounting the remarkable achievements of Joseph Mitchell, the Highland’s foremost civil engineer.
Less appreciated, perhaps, was Mitchell's skill as an architect, a talent he put to good advantage in
the building of his own villa at Viewhill in Inverness, and in the artistry he applied to the many
structures that grace the Highland landscape.

All welcome - There will be a buffet and Shield presentation by the Inverness Provost

CPDC – HI: Continuing Professional Development in Construction - Highland and Islands, has been
a forum since 1987 representing the 12-15 construction-related professions in the Scottish
Highlands and Islands, with UHI.
