Phil Parker is our featured speaker and is highly knowledgeable in the field of ‘Shared Space’. He has been a Chartered Civil Engineer for over 30 years and has extensive experience of the highways and infrastructure design associated with developments.

Phil has developed several Shared Space style schemes through his career, these include Station Road, Tidworth which was constructed in 2008 and Commended in the CIHT Manual for Streets awards.

He is a MSoRSA qualified Road Safety Auditor and has completed over 250 Audits in the last 13 years.   He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts and a Member of the Bristol Urban Design Forum Review Panel.

His paper “Expected behaviour and actual behaviour—is there a difference?” was published in March’s ICE Municipal Engineer Road Safety Special.
