(joint Meeting with ICE Transportation Group)
Evening Meeting 2013 / 2014 SESSION
Thursday 10th October 2013
ASSET MANAGEMENT
Speakers: David Cudworth - Amey
Gary Beddow – Yotta DCL
Asset Management can involve the entire life cycle of physical and infrastructure assets such as structures, highways and other assets. Many organisations that have adopted the principles of asset management can demonstrate benefits in terms of financial efficiencies and improved accountability, value for money and customer service. The profile of asset management has been raised in recent years, particularly in the public sector where the challenges of budgetary austerity are faced in conjunction with ageing networks and public expectations.
For example, in 2012 Sheffield City Council contracted with Amey for a 25 year and £2 billion Highway Maintenance PFI. With the role of the PFI framework to bring Sheffield’s highway network up to a high standard within the first 5 years and then maintain it; with the framework covering roads and pavements to street-lighting and traffic signals.
Speakers
David Cudworth (Technical Director for Highway Asset Management at Amey) will provide an overview of framework asset management, its organisation and objectives. A colleague will provide context on the relationship between asset management and socio-economic issues.
Gary Beddow (Business Development Manager) from Yotta DCL will provide an overview of the data collection and other systems being used in the running of asset management schemes and frameworks.
Venue; Sheffield Hallam University, Cantor Building, Room 91352, Furnival Street, Sheffield, S1 4QT
