In 2015 this scheme won the CIHT’s “Blind Jack” Best Highways & Transportation Award in Yorkshire & Humber Region. The Integrated Plan was developed because of severe traffic congestion in Beverley Town Centre and associated problems of traffic noise, pollution and serious impacts on other road users particularly pedestrians and mobility impaired. The package of measures involves: construction of a southern bypass; upgrading of roundabouts; reclassifications of roads and improved signage at a total cost of £22m.
