Join us for an exclusive in-person workshop followed by networking in collaboration with Women in Transport and Sunny Cycles.
CIHT is delighted to partner with The Scotland Hub of Women in Transport for an exciting in-person workshop on bike skills provided by Sunny Cycles, followed by networking.
This session will be hosted by Sunny Cycles. Sunny Cycles is a Glasgow-based charity dedicated to making cycling accessible for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or background. Their mission is to create an inclusive and welcoming community where people can experience the joy, freedom, and health benefits of cycling. They offer a variety of programs, including adaptive bike sessions, social rides, and beginner-friendly cycling events, with a special focus on supporting individuals with disabilities, older adults, and people from underserved areas.
The workshop will be followed by relaxed networking at West on the Green.
Across a 1-hour session you will be able to trial a variety of bikes including trikes, cargo-bikes and fixed-wheel bikes. The session will also feature some bike skills covering gears, signalling, lifting a hand off, slowing, moving onto the road, junctions and group cycling.
This will be followed by a short ride across Glasgow Green (traffic free) which will go at a social pace. A qualified ride leader will lead the ride with volunteer assistants.
The workshop will be followed by relaxed networking at West on the Green.
What to bring - Come as you are with clothing and footwear comfortable for cycling. People of all abilities and levels of experience are welcome to join.
Transport planners, modellers, designers, engineers, policymakers and anyone who wishes to know more about the different types of cycles available. Attendees are invited to reflect on design requirements and accessibility requirements for these cycles to navigate our streets and active travel infrastructure safely.
