Overview 

Join members of the CIHT South West Committee as they partner with Arup to host a guided tour of several projects in and around Bristol Temple Meads station. 

This event will showcase how the programme is transforming access to the busy transport hub and creating new sustainable development in the city centre. The tour will explore the delivery of key public realm, walking, cycling, bus and highway improvements and the release of land for development - highlighting the challenges, trade-offs and lessons learned. This is a great opportunity to see the project first-hand and discuss the planning and implementation process with those involved.

Speaker 

David Watkins - Associate Director in City Planning and Design, Arup.  David Watkins managed a multi-consultant team delivering RIBA1 and 2 design services for the Northern and Southern Gateway projects, which are part of the transformation of Bristol Temple Meads and the wider Bristol Temple Quarter. He subsequently managed delivery of outline planning consent and PACE submission for Southern Gateway and was part of the team providing access and movement advice to the masterplan team for Bristol Temple Quarter Phases 1 and 2. David is currently providing advice to developer Muse who are preparing a planning application for plots around the station, bringing jobs and housing to the city centre. David is an Associate Director in City Planning and Design for Arup, a CIHT Fellow and former CIHT South West Chair.
