The CIHT South West Emerging Professionals Committee invites all emerging professionals based in the South West to join us for a ‘Sympathetic Highway Design’ a talk with particular emphasis on Shared Space by Phil Parker.
Phil has been a Chartered Civil Engineer for more than 30 years and has extensive experience of the highways and infrastructure design associated with developments. He has managed detailed design and construction projects with consultants in Bristol since 1987. Frustrated by the accepted routine UK detailing of highways works, Phil completed a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Travelling Fellowship in Western Europe to study ‘Sympathetic Highway Design’ with particular emphasis on Shared Space. His essay ‘City Planning as if people mattered’ won the 2007 Ecologist Magazine Essay Prize.
This event provides an opportunity for all emerging professionals to meet, socialise and network with other like-minded professionals. The event is free to attend. CIHT members, TPS members and non-members alike are all invited.
