AGM Overview (16.30)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the CIHT London region will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 16.30 on Thursday 22 May 2025.

Come along and support your local committee, learn about what’s happening in your area, plans for the future, and meet fellow CIHT members.

The AGM will see the London Chair reflect on the past year and the successes of the region. The AGM will see the election of new committee members and will also see the appointment of the Chair and Officers to take forward the region’s plans for the next year.

If you wish to join the AGM, please book your place to attend. Once you have booked your place via this webpage, you will receive a confirmation email with the joining link for the Teams meeting.

Become a committee member

We welcome applications to become a committee member from across all membership grades and from all backgrounds within the transportation sector. Members from all parts of the region are encouraged to put themselves forward for nomination as we look to cover as-wide-an-area as possible.

Becoming a CIHT Regional Committee member can help you expand your network with leading professionals in your area and help you stand out from the crowd. You can also find more information about the regional committee roles in the Regional Officers Area.

Joining your committee also counts towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and can lead to longer involvement in national CIHT activities. We currently have vacancies in the following roles:

• Committee Member: You would participate in the committee meetings without a specific remit, but with the view to support the committee in the delivery of their activities and annual business plan commitments.

Nominations to join the committee can be made using the regional committee nomination form. Applications should be supported by four regional members and completed with a declaration by you the candidate to show you are willing to stand.

Planning for Last Mile Deliveries (17.15)

Our guest speaker to the London AGM, Ian Wainwright, will discuss how we can improve planning and designing for an improved provision for last mile logistics and the pitfalls if this is not considered at an early stage in the planning of developments.

• He will discuss exemplar outcomes that have considered last mile logistics and poorly considered examples and the pain points this causes the public and enforcement officers.
• What are the challenges we are facing with last mile deliveries?
• What are we getting wrong?
• What the increasing rise of home deliveries and food deliveries how can we better plan our streets and places to accommodate this demand? How can we better plan for deliveries and loading?
• Where do we go from here?

Our guest speaker to the London AGM, Ian Wainwright, will discuss how we can improve planning and designing for last mile deliveries. Ian will discuss the challenges we are facing from last mile deliveries including the impacts from the rise of home and food deliveries; outline the pitfalls if this is not considered at an early stage in the planning of new developments and street schemes, and the pain points this causes freight operators, the public, and enforcement officers; consider the potential solutions and policy levers; and suggest some simple steps we can take to accommodate this demand to deliver better developments, streets and spaces.
