This year’s Study Tour is based around Birmingham and will be taking the opportunity to look at the management of busy transport networks as well as some modern transport solutions. Our hosts will include Highways England, Transport for West Midlands and Network Rail.

Wednesday 22nd May 2019
Morning flight from Belfast City Airport to Birmingham International Airport
Coach Transfer to Birmingham City Centre Hotel and leave bags for later check in
Free time for lunch
Afternoon visit to Highways England National Traffic Control Centre (Quinton)
Check-In hotel & evening free
Thursday 23rd May 2019
Short walk to offices of Transport for West Midlands where we will spend the day and receive briefings on:
A site visit will also be undertaken either in relation to the tramway extensions or CAVs.
In the evening a Study Tour dinner will be arranged at a restaurant local to the hotel.
Friday 24th May 2019
Coach ride out to Rugby to visit Network Rails Regional Operations Centre which is being developed as one of only thirteen signalling and network control centres to cover the whole of the GB railway.
Afternoon coach transfer to Birmingham International Airport Afternoon and flight back to Belfast City Airport
