NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the CIHT North East & Cumbria Region will hold its Annual General Meeting at 17:30 on Thursday 15 May 2025.
Come along and support your local committee, learn about what’s happening in your area, plans for the future, and meet fellow CIHT members.
The AGM will see Joanne Roberts, CIHT North East & Cumbria Chair reflect on the past year and the successes of the region. The AGM will see the election of new committee members and will also see the appointment of the Chair and Officers to take forward the region’s plans for the next year.

Katie Day - Deputy Chief Executive & Director of Strategy, Analysis and Communications, Transport for the North Katie Day is Transport for the North’s Deputy Chief Executive, having joined the organisation in February 2023. Katie’s portfolio includes TfN’s Strategic Rail function, Modelling & Analysis team (TAME), Legal & Democratic Services and Communications & Engagement. |
Katie has over 20 years’ experience working in public bodies and central government. Before joining TfN, she spent over five years as Director of Policy and Communications at the Office for Nuclear Regulation. She also worked at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) as Head of Operations for the Regional Growth Fund, and, at the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) leading internal communications and strategic policy. Previously, she held a variety of leadership and management roles at the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), focused on urban and rural regeneration, enterprise and business growth and economic development.
Transport for the North published its Strategic Transport Plan last year, setting out how better connectivity can transform the region’s economy, environment and social inclusion over the next 25 years. Backed by the North’s mayors and political leaders, TfN and its partners are now working together to make the Plan’s ambitions a reality. Katie will set out how implementation is taking shape, and also examine how rail reform and devolution are providing more opportunities for transformational change for people and places across the North.
We welcome applications to become a committee member from across all membership grades and from all backgrounds within the transportation sector. Members from all parts of North East & Cumbria are encouraged to put themselves forward for nomination as we look to cover as-wide-an-area as possible.
Becoming a CIHT Regional Committee member can help you expand your network with leading professionals in your area and help you stand out from the crowd. You can also find more information about the regional committee roles in the Regional Officers Area.
Joining your committee also counts towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and can lead to longer involvement in national CIHT activities.
Nominations to join the committee can be made using the regional committee nomination form.
Formal nominations must be made by 5pm on Friday 9th May 2025. Applications should be supported by four regional members and completed with a declaration by you the candidate to show you are willing to stand.
