Join us for the CIHT North West Annual General Meeting 2023 which will take place in Manchester with an option to join online for those unable to attend in person.
You must book a place to attend. Please note, if you select 'online only ticket' a joining link will be sent separately to the confirmation email.
Come along and support your local committee, learn about what’s happening in your region, plans for the future, and meet fellow CIHT members.
The AGM will follow a presentation on inclusive active travel design - see further details below.
The Annual General Meeting will provide an opportunity for the region's Chair, Behrooz Saghafi, to reflect on his term in office and the successes of CIHT North West in contributing to the transport profession and CIHT’s national activities. The AGM will see the election of new committee members to take forward the region's plans for the next year.
If you would like to put yourself forward for a role or would just like to find out more about being part of the committee, please register your interest.
Prior to the AGM, there will be a presentation on inclusive active travel design by Catriona Swanson, Associate Director and Active Travel Sector Lead at PJA and Dr Harriet Larrington-Spencer, Research Fellow at the Active Travel Academy, University of Westminster.
The presentation will cover inclusive active travel design. It will include the perspective and experiences of a disabled cyclist who regularly cycles around Greater Manchester using an adapted cargo tricycle and the barriers that she faces.
It will then cover key inclusive design principles, bad and good/best practice and key considerations for designers.
It aims to raise awareness among engineers and scheme designers of the barriers non-inclusive active travel infrastructure creates and practical ways to ensure active travel infrastructure is accessible including consideration of widths, surfacing, cambers, gradients and the use of bollards and barriers.
The AGM is open to all members of CIHT in the North West region.
The inclusive active travel design presentation is aimed at anyone who has a role in the design of the built environment. It will be particularly useful for planners and engineers designing active travel infrastructure but the information will be relevant to people in a wide range of roles and at all stages of their career.
You must book a place to attend. Please note, if you select 'online only ticket' a joining link will be sent separately to the confirmation email.
We welcome applications to become a committee member from across all membership grades and from all backgrounds within the transportation sector. Nominations are welcomed from Local Authorities, consultancies, student and apprentice members.
Members from all parts of the North West are encouraged to put themselves forward for nomination as we look to cover as-wide-an-area as possible.
If you would like to put yourself forward for a role or would just like to find out more about being part of the committee, please register your interest.
