The Partners Forum is a new initiative for 2021 and is open to all employees of CIHT Partner Organisations. The Forum is designed for a small group of representatives from Partner Organisations to come together to share views and opinion whilst discussing common industry issues and challenges.
Please note the different times for this Forum event to the usual Partner Forum timings, to accommodate the CIHT Spring Conference.
The National Infrastructure Strategy (NIS) describes how the government will put the UK on the path to meeting its new zero emissions target by 2050. The UK is already decarbonising faster than any other G20 country. As hosts of the UN Climate Change Conference COP 26 later this year, the UK will go even further to promote the importance of low-carbon infrastructure and support its commitment to the Paris Agreement.
The NIS confirms an accelerated rollout of electric vehicle (EV) charge points. By 2023 and highlights the Government’s funding to future proof grid capacity along key roads and motorways and to support on-street charging across England
The Spending Review also outlines the Government’s commitment of, in total, more than £5bn will be spent on public transport and cycling infrastructure, with £1.3bn earmarked for EV charging.
The UK’s 6th Carbon Budget recognises that the transition to net zero will require take-up of low-carbon technologies, low-carbon fuels and efficiency improvements for petrol and diesel vehicles and behaviour change to reduce travel demand and shift journeys onto lower-carbon modes of transport.
Net zero will not be achieved through ‘business as usual’ but will required a significant collective and collaborative effort across the industry.
The Partners Forum on Decarbonisation will look at where the biggest opportunities lie within our sector and how, as an industry, we can achieve the requirements around carbon and net zero, which are being set by the Government.
