The Partners Forum is a new initiative for 2021 and is open to all employees of CIHT Partner Organisations. The Forum is designed for a small group of representatives from Partner Organisations to come together to share views and opinion whilst discussing common industry issues and challenges.
“Transport is never just about transport. Given the impact of new technologies, more than ever today transport is about creating green, safe, healthy, connected and inclusive communities, and about enhancing economic growth and productivity.” – Jesse Norman MP, Minister of State for DfT, 2019
Much has happened over the last two years, yet this statement remains very relevant. Government and industry are pressing ahead for carbon-neutral solutions and ambitious net-zero targets. Employers and consumers are favouring digital options (from remote working, to food deliveries to streaming services) and there is an expectation that transport and mobility providers will expand their online offerings.
Many argue that transport needs to be considered as a holistic system, not as sequential or separate elements. New technologies create a window of opportunity to move towards a more integrated transport system and the growth in data use, will lead to changes in and beyond the transport sector. How can we prove this potential in a rural setting for the widest outcomes and to ensure we do not just aim at the low-hanging fruit?
The discussion will cover:
Toby Thornton - Technical Director Future Mobility, WSP
Laurence Oakes-Ash - CEO, City Science
Dr Maurizio Catulli - Smart Mobility Unit, Hertfordshire University
Mark Valleley - Technical Lead, Transport for the Southeast
Rob McDonald - Director for Future Mobility and Smart Cities, Stantec
The Partnerships Forum is open to employees of our Partnerships Network Organisations.
