This event is open to all employees of CIHT Partner Organisations. Jon Drae, Head of Data Science will give a presentation, after which there will be time for questions and discussion to share views and opinions.
The volume of data which businesses can now access is vast and is only increasing with time. The speed at which this increase is growing is accelerating. However, the pace of change is not as swift when it comes to how we design and collect data, which is often set up for a specific business need or initiative. That in turn can limit the usefulness of the data.
To use the data in different contexts and if different data formats are used across the business, it will need to be re-configured, cleansed and checked for compatibility; not the most efficient or effect approach to managing the data.
Organisations are now taking more time at the design stage and to consider and understand the different types of data being used, the quality and sensitivity of data, in order for one platform to be able to support multiple initiatives, thus increasing the value the data can bring.
National Highways understands that the value of data is critical to making informed investment decisions and delivering better journeys for stakeholders.
A very simple idea has created fundamental changes to National Highways' data culture and is enabling the delivery £1.2bn of cashable benefits, as a result of having better data being used to make better decisions. This simple idea was that data had value and was an asset in its own right, not just a digital reflection of one. National Highways have now proved their data is worth £60bn to UK plc and is equivalent to half of the value of their tangible assets.
This Partners event is open to employees of our Partnerships Network Organisations.
